Program Description

Event Details

Donate your new or gently used arts and crafts materials and pick up some new items to refresh your supplies!

HOW IT WORKS:

Bring your donations to the Grice Community Room anytime between 2pm and 6pm on Monday, May 5th. Donations will only be accepted day-of. Please do not bring donations in the days leading up to the event.

Leave with as many (or more!) items as you came with. Don't forget to bring a bag or box to transport your new goodies home!

DONATION GUIDELINES

In order to help the swap go smoothly and ensure materials will find new homes, please be aware of the following information about what items we can or cannot accept for this swap:

We are happy to accept:

  • New or gently used arts and crafts materials, including (but not limited to):
    • DRAWING/PAINTING: pencils, drawing/calligraphy pens, markers, brushes, acrylic/watercolor paints, unused canvases, etc.
    • TEXTILES/FIBERS: fabric, aida fabric, thread, yarn, embroidery supplies, ribbon, knitting needles, sewing needles (in safe & sturdy packaging), crochet hooks, etc.
    • CRAFTING: beads, foam, felt, scrapbooking supplies, stamps, ink pads, stencils, washi tape, etc.
    • WOOD/METAL CRAFTS: unfinished (desktop size) wooden supplies, small scrap metal parts, small wire/dowels, bottle caps, etc.
    • TOOLS/OTHER: scissors, glue, tape, rulers, hole punches, paper, etc.

We cannot accept:

  • Anything dirty, moldy, broken, or heavily used
  • Pre-made crafts/completed projects
  • Clothes or home linens/towels
  • Appliances/machines/equipment (such as sewing machines)
  • Heavy, bulky, or large items (i.e., doesn't fit easily in your car or takes more than one person to bring in)
  • Books and magazines
  • House paint
  • Office supplies

When in doubt, think about whether it’s something that's easily transportable, in good shape, and something you would be happy to receive in a swap. If it doesn't fit those guidelines, it's probably best to leave it at home! If you have any questions about whether your object(s) are appropriate to bring to the swap, please reach out to Rachel Kindred, Programming and Outreach Librarian.

What will happen to leftover donations that do not get claimed?

Any unclaimed items left in the Community Room at the conclusion of the program will either be added to the Library's supplies for crafting programs or donated to Treasures Upscale Thrift Store in North Grafton.
