Welcome to the Climate Café! In this monthly series, we'll be hosting presenters on select Saturday mornings to speak about topics like environmentalism and nature, climate change, wildlife protection, and more. Complimentary coffee and pastries will be provided!
In this Café, we're pleased to be joined by the Thoreau Society for a presentation on two topics you might be surprised have anything in common: climate change and Henry David Thoreau.
Spring comes to Concord, Massachusetts three weeks earlier than it did in 1845. How do we know? Henry David Thoreau. Thoreau’s meticulous observations and recordings of that natural world around him have been closely analyzed and compared to modern climate data by Boston University Biology professor Richard Primack. This presentation highlights what we can glean from Thoreau's and Primack's work for not only how we observe climate change around Walden Pond today, but what we can project for Walden 180 years from now.
Join us on Saturday, May 10th at 10:00am in the Grice Community Room. No registration required!
