Pocket Forests: How to quickly build a biodiverse forest in a 20' x 20' space

Did you know that it’s possible to build a forest in the same amount of space it takes to park two cars?  Pioneered by a Japanese botanist, the “Pocket Forest” technique upends traditional planting advice yet has proven highly effective at restoring degraded land.  This talk will discuss the method and give real world examples of the amazing benefits to wildlife that these mini woodlands attract—sometimes as quickly as the first growing season.

Lisey Good is the founder of Massachusetts-based environmental group Wild Cohasset, which works to support the native plants of New England and to help the wildlife that depend upon these plants for survival. She is the former Editor in Chief for the Garden Club of America national magazine, The Real Dirt. A frequent lecturer on issues related to biodiversity and wildlife, Lisey was previously the on-air interior designer for the Emmy Award winning television program This Old House. Today, in addition to working with her environmental charity, she works in marketing, PR and fundraising for animal welfare organizations.
